Herts go to Potters
Club holiday to Potters Resorts Five Lakes 3-7 March 2025 –
expertly organised by Kim
30 people arrived on Monday afternoon to collect personalised packs, book in at the bowls desk and arrange our restaurant tables (for cooked breakfast, 3-course lunch & 3-course dinner – all very tasty abd plentiful) for our stay. Our rooms opened at 3pm and were either in the hotel or village – many with countryside views.
Bowlers played a minimum of 4 games – 12 ends or 1.5 hours – on the 5 rinks (4 with a side ditch). (Only correct bowls shoes could be worn.) The quarters, semis and final were played on Thursday – 8 ends or 1 hour. Great success – Herts had 3 teams in the semis:
1) Bernie, sub from local area, Alison Hurst & Steve Keenan
2) Alison Holt, Mags & Roy, Lois
3) Linda & Rick, Sara & Dave
with overall success going to Steve’s team beating Lois‘ team in the final by 1 shot on the final end.
Apart from bowls, there was always a choice of numerous daytime activities including:
Indoors – swimming, spa treatments, badminton, pickleball, kurling, table tennis, archery, darts, shuffleboard, pilates, tap dancing, nordic walking, pottery, make up masterclass, quizzes, etc.
Outdoors – air rifles, laser clay shooting, archery, petanque, etc.
Top quality evening entertainment included fun quizzes, bingo, song/dance/comedy shows, silent disco, late night live.
Other Herts successes saw Linda win the 301 Darts tournament and a Potters medal, Linda and Louise shared a handsome bingo prize and some people won Potters medals for winning an activity eg Lois for air rifles shooting and Kim.
Everyone had a fantastic time – tried new things – met lovely people.
Kim has provisionally booked again next year from 2-6 March – so please let her know if you are interested in going – everyone has a great time whether or not they bowl as there is always a choice of activities.
